Revelation’s Final Warning to the World

Revelation 14 Outline

I. The Lamb and the 144,000 on Mount Zion

  • Revelation 14:1-5
    1. The Lamb on Mount Zion
      • The Lamb (Jesus) stands on Mount Zion with 144,000 that were sealed (Rev 7)
      • They have the name of God and the Lamb (His character) written on their foreheads
    2. The 144,000’s Characteristics
      • They are virgins, untainted by false worship, and follow the Lamb wherever He goes
      • They are redeemed from among men as the first fruits to God and the Lamb
      • They sing a new song that no one else can learn, symbolizing their unique experience and relationship with God
      • They are described as blameless

II. The Three Angels’ Messages

  • Revelation 14:6-13
    1. First Angel: The Everlasting Gospel (14:6-7)
      • The first angel proclaims the everlasting gospel to all the nations, tongues, and people, calling all to worship the true Creator God and give Him glory, as the hour of His judgment is come
    2. Second Angel: The Fall of Babylon (14:8)
      • The second angel announces the fall of Babylon, the great city, because it made all nations drink the wine of the wrath of her fornication
    3. Third Angel: Warning Against the Mark of the Beast (14:9-11)
      • The third angel warns those who worship the beast and receive his symbolic mark in his forehead or hand, declaring that they will face the wrath of God, with no rest day or night
    4. Call for Patient Endurance and Faithfulness (14:12-13)
      • A call for the saints to persevere in keeping God’s commandments and having the faith of Jesus
      • A voice from heaven assures the faithful that their works will be rewarded, and they will rest from their labors and their works follow them (righteousness by faith)

III. The Harvest of the Earth (right after the third angel’s proclamation)

  • Revelation 14:14-20
    1. The Harvest of the Earth: The Son of Man (14:14-16)
      • A figure like the Son of Man (Jesus) with a golden crown and sickle is told to reap the earth, as the harvest is ripe
      • The earth is reaped by the Son of Man, symbolizing the gathering of the righteous saved
    2. The Winepress of God’s Wrath (14:17-20)
      • Another angel with a sickle is instructed to gather the clusters of the vine of the earth, as the grapes are ripe
      • The grapes are thrown into the great winepress of God’s wrath, resulting in a great judgment, symbolizing the fate of the wicked
